Scuffed Cosmetics is a purely visual appearance shop. You collect particle effects, wings and other worn models, full-body player skins, emotes, guild land skies and server-wide XP boosts, spend Premium Tokens on them, and equip what you own. None of it changes your stats, damage or progression, with the one exception of Global Boosts, which are bought here but run through Scuffed Professions (see below).

🛠️ Running a server? Requirements, staff commands, permissions and configuration live in the Scuffed Cosmetics server guide.

Opening the menu

HowWhat happens
/cosmetic (aliases /cosmetics, /cos, /scos, /sc)Opens the Appearance menu
Press the interact key on a showcase standOpens the menu, on the cosmetic the stand advertises when it has one
Endless Link's /ec menuLists the cosmetics page when Endless Leveling is installed

The Back button returns to the Endless menu you came from when you opened it that way. On a server without Endless Leveling it simply closes the menu.

Everything is done in the menu. There are no player commands for buying or equipping.

Premium Tokens

Premium Tokens are the shop currency. Your balance is shown at the top of the menu.

  • Get Tokens button: appears only when the server has a store link set. Pressing it closes the menu and prints a clickable link in chat.
  • Giveaway codes: a code handed out by staff or a creator pays tokens or one item. Redeem it on the Inventory tab (see below).
  • Staff grants: staff can give or set tokens directly.
  • Items are paid for with tokens only. A purchase checks your balance and gives you the item in one step, so you are never charged without receiving it.

Your balance, owned items and equipped cosmetics are saved per player. On a network with shared storage they follow you between servers.

The tabs

The rail on the left switches between the sections of the shop.

TabWhat it holds
ParticlesParticle profiles: auras, trails and flourishes
CostumesWearable models in four slots: costumes, back items, tails and headwear
SkinsFull-body player models
EmotesEmotes added by the server
WeathersSkies for your guild's land
BoostsGlobal XP boosts that run for the whole server
InventoryEverything you own, your token history and the code redeemer

The Boosts tab only appears on a server that runs Scuffed Professions, or once you own a boost. A weather you do not own is listed only while the server has it on sale.

Staff with Admin View switched on see two more tabs, Admin and Editor. Players never see them.

A counter strip above the grid shows how much of each tab you own, for example Costumes 2/6.

Browsing, previewing, buying and equipping

  1. Click a card to select it. A detail panel on the right shows the name, rarity, description, price and your status for that item.
  2. Preview it. The preview shows the item on your own character right away. Nobody else sees it and it is not equipped. Items you do not own show a muted preview and a Locked badge, but you can still select them and see the price.
  3. Buy with the gold button, labelled with the price. If you cannot afford it the button says so.
  4. Equip with the same button once you own it. The button then becomes an unequip button.

Rarity colours the item name: Common, Rare and Legendary.

Some items cannot be bought. They show "Earned reward" and are awarded by staff, a giveaway code, a rank or a special event. A server can also unlock an item for a rank without you buying it, in which case it shows as unlocked and you can equip it, but it goes away if the rank does.

Clear All Effects (bottom of the menu) unequips everything at once: your profile, every worn slot, your skin and any weapon effect.

The left column shows what you currently wear: your Particle Profile, your Wearables and your Player Skin.

Particle profiles

A profile is a complete particle set. You can wear one profile at a time; equipping another replaces it. A profile can include:

  • a continuous effect that follows you, either glued to your body or left as a wake behind you;
  • one-shot flourishes when you jump, land, land heavily, strike with a weapon, glide, roll, splash into water, die, or equip the profile;
  • a sound when you equip it.

Profiles that ship with the mod:

ProfileLook
Ember SovereignEmbers at your heels, a warm glow about you, fire on every move
Frostbound SpiritA cold wake at your feet and a chill aura
Aurora VeilA soft light aura, faint footsteps and small flourishes
Pride TrailA rainbow tail streaming off your back as you move
Endless OriginA red and a blue ribbon winding round each other behind you: a figure of eight while you stand, a braid while you move

Endless Origin is award-only. It was given once to every player at prestige 20 or higher when staff ran the award, and otherwise only staff can grant it. Its ribbon length (short, medium or long) is a server setting.

Servers can add their own profiles, so the Particles tab may hold more than the list above.

Costumes and wearables

The Costumes tab covers four slots, and you can wear one item in each slot at the same time:

FilterSlot
CostumesFull costume, such as a set of wings
Back ItemsWorn on the back
TailsWorn at the pelvis
HeadwearWorn on the head

The All filter shows every slot together.

  • Wearable models are shown on your character regardless of the armor you wear and regardless of the hide-helmet or hide-chest-plate settings. Your real armor keeps protecting you.
  • Some wings are animated: they flap, fold and fall with the wearer's movement.
  • Many wings come in colour variants that appear as separate items.

Sets that ship with the mod:

SetNotes
Celestial WingsThree models: Radiant Seraph, Celestial Orbit, Judgment Flare
Primordial Aatrox Wings
Clockwork Aegis and Servo ArrayMechanical wings
Demonlord WingsSeveral colourways. Award-only by default
Feathered Wings and Feathered WingAward-only by default
Fire WingsColour variants. Award-only by default
Justicar WingsMany colour and frame variants. Award-only by default
Pride CapesRainbow, Trans, Bisexual, Pansexual, Lesbian and Nonbinary flags worn as capes

The Pride Capes work differently from the rest. They replace the look of your chest armor instead of being a separate model. Your real armor keeps protecting you.

Which of these are on sale is up to the server, so your shop may differ. Servers can also add their own wearables.

Player skins

The Skins tab swaps your whole character model for a custom one. You can wear one skin at a time. The Default (Your Skin) entry is always free and puts you back to your own look.

A skin stacks with costumes: the skin is the body and your costume rides on it. Your own cape, earrings, glasses and headband stay on while you wear a skin, except when the skin brings its own back piece, which replaces your cape.

Emotes

The Emotes tab sells emotes that the server has added. The emotes built into Hytale are never sold: they stay free for everyone.

  • Select an emote to preview it on your character. Buy it, then press Play to perform it for everyone nearby.
  • You can also use the emote wheel or /emote <emote>. For a purchasable emote these only work once you own it, or when it is free in the shop. If you do not own it you get a message pointing to the Emotes tab.
  • Staff and players with the bypass permission can play every emote.

Guild land skies

The Weathers tab sells skies that guilds can show over their land. It needs Endless Guilds and Scuffed Protection on the server; without a guild you cannot buy one.

  • A weather belongs to the member who bought it. A guild's sky pool is every weather its current members own. If a member leaves, the weathers they bought leave the pool with them.
  • Officers, co-leaders and leaders open Guild Land Skies from the tab. The page shows the pool on the left and a map of the guild's claimed chunks on the right (15 by 9 chunks, with pan buttons). Select chunks, pick a weather as the brush and apply it.
  • Everyone else in the guild sees the same page read-only.
  • Anyone can preview a weather on their own sky. A preview lasts 10 seconds, only you see it, and the menu closes so you can look. You wait 10 seconds between previews and 60 seconds before previewing the same weather again.
  • Chunks the guild loses, or weathers that drop out of the pool, go back to the natural sky.
  • A region or world weather that staff force takes priority over a guild sky.

Global Boosts

The Boosts tab sells two kinds of server-wide XP boost. Both run through Scuffed Professions, so they only start on a server that runs it.

BoostEffect
Global Boost: All ProfessionsA bonus to profession XP on every profession, for everyone on the server
Global Boost: One ProfessionA bonus on a single profession that you choose when you use it
  • Buying a boost puts it in your stock; it does not start yet. Open its card and press Activate. You can buy more than one.
  • The card shows the size and length of the boost, read from the Scuffed Professions settings, and a green tag shows the bonus a profession pays right now.
  • Boosts stack: each one raises the rate up to the cap Scuffed Professions sets, and adds its time. At the cap it still adds time.
  • Starting a boost announces your name to the whole server.
  • If Scuffed Professions does not answer, the boost is kept as pending and starts as soon as it does. If it can never start, it goes back into your stock.

Inventory tab

  • Premium Tokens: your balance.
  • Redeem code: type a giveaway code (twelve letters and digits, shown as XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and press Redeem. A code works once, for one player, until it expires.
    • A code for an item you already own is refused without being used.
    • After eight wrong codes within ten minutes you are locked out of redeeming for a short time.
  • Owned items: everything you own, with where it came from (a purchase, a giveaway code, a staff grant, a bundle).
  • Token history: your recent token changes, newest first.

Showcase stands

Staff place figures around the server that model cosmetics. A stand can cycle through items or wear a fixed outfit, can hold a pose, and may stand still, spin, walk slowly around its spot or turn its head toward you.

Aim at one and press the interact key. The prompt reads View Cosmetic when the stand advertises an item, and Press [key] to browse the shop otherwise. The menu opens on that item with the preview already running.
