Holograms are signs, pictures, figures and effects that staff place in the world. They show text in colour, images and animated GIFs, 3D models, particle effects and live leaderboards. Some of them react when you click them or walk into them. Players do not create or edit holograms; this page covers what you will see and how to use them.

What holograms can show
| Kind | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Text | Up to 15 lines of text in a custom font. Lines can be one colour, a gradient, a rainbow, or have different colours on different words. |
| Animated text | A line can scroll, type itself out letter by letter, or cycle through rainbow colours. A line can also rotate between several alternative texts. |
| Images | A flat picture hanging in the air. PNG, JPEG, BMP and animated GIF files are supported. |
| Models | A 3D model standing in the world, such as a mannequin or a copy of a player's look, with held items and armour. |
| Particle effects | A looping vanilla or plugin particle effect at a fixed spot, optionally tinted. |
| Leaderboards | A text hologram whose lines are filled in from rankings (see below). |
Staff can also add a glow, a tint, a visual overlay, a gentle up-and-down bob, a soft coloured light, a sound that plays when you click, and an icon on the world map.
Live values
Text in a hologram can contain values that update on their own:
| Value | Shows |
|---|---|
| Your name | Your own name, so each player sees a personal greeting. |
| Players online | The number of players on the server you are on. |
| Time and date | The real-world time (hours and minutes) and date. |
| Your Endless Leveling stats | Your level, XP, class and prestige, on servers running Endless Leveling. |
| Ranked players | The name, level, prestige or score of whoever holds a given leaderboard place. |
Servers that run PlaceholderAPI can also show any value that other mods provide through it.
Live values do not refresh every second. By default a hologram re-reads them about every two minutes, and staff can set a different interval per hologram.
Leaderboards
Leaderboard holograms list the top ten of a ranking. The rankings that exist out of the box are:
| Ranking | Counts |
|---|---|
| Endless Leveling rank | Players ordered by prestige first, then level. The default board shows each player's name, prestige and level. |
| Playtime | Total minutes played. A session is added to your total when you leave the server. |
| Joins | How many times you have joined the server. |
On a network where several servers share Endless Leveling profiles, the Endless Leveling board shows the same ranking everywhere, including players who are offline. Ranks refresh about every 30 seconds.
A hologram can also show the model of the player who currently holds a leaderboard place, such as a statue of the number one player. The statue changes when the standing changes. A ranked player only appears once the server has seen their look, which happens when they log in.
How holograms face you
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Center | Always turns to face you, tilting up and down as well. The default. |
| Horizontal | Turns to face you but stays upright. |
| Fixed | Stays pointed in one direction. Images are visible from both sides. |
A hologram is only drawn within its view distance (80 blocks by default) and only in the world where it was placed. Staff can also hide a hologram at certain hours of the in-game day, or hide it from players who lack a permission.
Clicking and walking into holograms
A hologram can be set up to run commands for you. There are two ways it fires:
| Trigger | How it works |
|---|---|
| Click | Aim at the hologram from within about 6 blocks and click, or press the use key on the prompt that appears over it. |
| Walk in | Step into the hologram's area. It fires once when you enter, and fires again only after you leave and come back. |
When it fires, the hologram can do any of the following, as configured by staff:
- Run a command as you or as the server, for example opening a menu, teleporting you or giving a reward.
- Send you a chat message.
- Wait a few seconds before acting.
- Roll a chance, so a click only sometimes gives a result.
- Pick one outcome at random from several, rotate through a list of steps one click at a time, or follow a quest chain that moves to the next step as you finish each quest.
- Play a sound.
Some holograms are limited so they cannot be abused:
| Limit | What you see |
|---|---|
| Cooldown | On cooldown, wait 12s. appears when you click too soon. A cooldown can apply to one hologram or to every hologram. Walk-in holograms skip a cooled-down trigger without any message. |
| Use limit | Staff can cap how many times each player may use a hologram. When you reach it you see that you have used it the maximum number of times. |
| Limit reset | The limit can be permanent, reset when the server restarts, reset a day after your last use, or reset each time you join. |
| Permission | A hologram can be restricted to a rank. If you lack the permission, clicking does nothing, and staff can hide the hologram from you completely. |
Rank-based perks are possible too. Staff can give a rank a higher chance on a reward hologram, a higher use limit, or block a group from using holograms altogether.
Map markers
Staff can put a hologram on the world map with an icon (pin, dot, star, diamond, heart or shop) and a label. The marker shows on the map of the world the hologram is in, even when the hologram itself is out of view distance or hidden by its time-of-day schedule.
Damage numbers
The mod can replace the vanilla floating damage numbers server-wide. It is off by default. When staff turn it on, everyone sees the chosen style:
| Style | Look |
|---|---|
| MapleStory | Large orange numbers that pop in, rise and fade. |
| Vanilla | The standard Hytale look. |
| Minimal | Mid-sized grey numbers that drift up and fade quickly. |
Player Commands
Players have no commands for this mod. The /sch command is reserved for staff.
