Scuffed Professions

The non-combat professions: personal XP, skill trees, reward claims, rare finds, collections, boosts, forge and brewing tools, and the capstones earned by Transcending.

Scuffed Professions adds twelve non-combat professions: Mining, Woodcutting, Excavation, Farming, Fishing, Building, Smithing, Alchemy, Exploration, Cooking, Acrobatics and Husbandry. Each one has its own personal XP, a level 1 to 100 skill tree with choices, claimable item rewards, rare finds, a collection of first discoveries and a numbered, tradable capstone item that you earn by reaching the top and Transcending.

🛠️ Running a server? Requirements, staff commands, permissions and configuration live in the Scuffed Professions server guide.

Getting started

Open the Professions tab in the Endless Leveling menu, or type /professions (short form /prof). The page shows a card for each enabled profession with your level and progress. Select a profession to read its How to level text, choose tree benefits, claim item rewards and preview its capstone.

  • All twelve professions start at level 1.
  • Profession XP is personal. Another player's work, your spouse or standing near someone never grants you their XP.
  • Creative mode earns no profession XP.
  • You claim the Cooking Station and the Forge Bench from the level 1 reward rows of Cooking and Smithing. You claim the Excavator's Brush and Restoration Table from the level 1 row of Excavation.
  • Item rewards wait for inventory space and arrive through the item inbox if your inventory is full.

If the server turns a profession off, it stays in your save with its old level but earns nothing until it is switched back on.

How XP and levels work

Every profession uses the same level curve. Level 100 is the cap for a first climb: about 14,300 XP in total gets you to level 10, and about 11 million XP in total to level 100. Each profession also has its own XP rate, so the same amount of work does not level every profession at the same speed.

  • Fractions are kept. A gain smaller than one point is stored and added to your next gain in that profession.
  • Placed blocks do not pay. Blocks you or a worker place pay no gathering XP for two hours after placement (seeds and the crops grown from them are the exception). Ground placed by players or workers gives no Excavation XP, Sift ore or finds.
  • Repeated spots pay once. A mined position pays once per 30 minutes, so stone that keeps forming in one place does not pay again. Taming the same animal pays once per day.
  • Falls and dodges are limited. A survived fall pays once per 8 by 8 block column every 10 minutes, and a Perfect Dodge pays once per attacker every 5 seconds.
  • Protected or cancelled actions pay nothing. Protection cannot be bypassed to earn XP.
  • Milestone titles. Each profession awards a master title when you reach level 100.

Floating XP shows the profession icon with a gold plus over what earned the XP. Only you see it. A level-up toast, a small gain popup and sounds can be switched off by the server.

Mining

Break natural stone and ore. Each ore tier pays more than the one before. Base values before the profession rate are Copper 15, Iron 25, Cobalt and Thorium 40, Gold and Silver 60, Adamantite 100, Mithril 160, Onyxium 250 and Prisma 400. Plain stone pays a few points per block. Gems pay no XP.

  • Prisma pickaxe area extras pay 5% of their block row by default. A swing counts once for diminishing returns.
  • Claim the Iron Mining Site at level 40. At level 90, claim or buy a Rejuvinator for eligible workers (see Rejuvinator below).
  • At 100, Transcend and claim the Mithril Survey Stake.

Woodcutting

Chop natural logs. Every connected trunk log that falls with the tree pays full XP to the player who felled it. Branches drop sticks and pay nothing. Scarcer woods pay more per log: Oak 8, Maple and Aspen 15, Palo 24. Species with huge trees, such as Redwood and Crystal, pay less per log because one tree drops so many.

  • Claim Heartwood at level 40. It is a material used in recipes of other professions.
  • At 100, Transcend and claim the Heartwood Stump.

Excavation

Dig natural soil, sand, gravel or snow. Digging a lot of one block type pays less than switching.

  1. Now and then a dig leaves a find showing in the hole (0.5% per natural block by default, with a pity counter that raises the chance after a long dry spell). Right-click it with the brush to collect an Encrusted Find (Soil, Sand or Snow, after the ground it came from). They stack without a limit.
  2. Hold an Encrusted Find and right-click the Restoration Table to set it down, then right-click the table with the brush 3 times. The last stroke reveals an artifact. Each restore pays 150 base Excavation XP. The first of each artifact pays extra and fills its Collection entry.
  3. Crouch and right-click the table with the brush to take back an unfinished find. A find left alone for a day returns to you through the item inbox.
ArtifactWhat it does
Prospector's TinOpens for 3 to 5 raw ore
Ancient Coin PouchOpens for coins
Frost-bound CacheOpens for a gem or crystal (snow only)
Fossil BoneAn alchemy reagent
Amber NoduleA Cooking ingredient that makes a dish last longer, and an optional Bloodline Draught reagent
Inscribed TabletRead it, pick a profession and gain the shown XP (normally 5% of that profession's next level, without earning multipliers)

At 100, Transcend for the Antiquarian's Brush. Each find you restore with it has a 2% chance to also turn up an ancient relic, a Forged trinket or Voidstone, within the server's relic limits.

Farming

Harvest grown crops, wild plants and fruit. Crops pay by vanilla's crop tier, from 60 for Wheat to 140 for Onion and Potato (raw values before the profession rate).

  • Eternal crops that regrow without replanting pay one third of their row.
  • A ripe crop picked by hand pays a quarter of its row. Glowing mushrooms and Boomshrooms, which grow only in the wild, pay in full.
  • An area tool pays full XP for its first 6 tiles per swing and a quarter for the rest.
  • FarmingPlus watering pays only on tiles that were dry before.
  • Level 80 pays the Everflowing Watering Can, a FarmingPlus can that never runs dry.
  • At 100, Transcend for the Transcendent Sickle: an unbreakable FarmingPlus sickle with a 9 by 9 harvest.

Fishing

Fish with Angler's Almanac. Rarity and catch rating decide the XP. Your Fishing level adds fishing power to the Almanac's catch roll, up to 2 extra power at level 100, which opens fish that need more power and tilts the roll toward rarer fish. Quick Bite shortens the wait for a bite, not the reeling minigame.

  • Drink fishing potions for timed buffs. They do not need a hotbar slot while active, and their timers keep counting while you are offline.
  • At 100, Transcend for the Leviathan Lure (see Capstones).

Building

Place blocks outside Creative. Where the block lands decides the pay: your own personal or guild claim pays full XP, wilderness pays half, another player's claim pays nothing.

  • If someone breaks a recently placed block you were paid for, your next placements first pay that XP back (the debt expires after 10 minutes). Earned XP and levels are never taken away.
  • Dragging a line of blocks, or placing faster than about one block every 1.5 seconds, pays the first block in full and 3.5% for each further block. Laying one block type press after press (20 of your last 24 presses) pays 85% per press. Normal building at a normal pace is unaffected.
  • Level rewards unlock building sets at the server's shop (see Building shop unlocks below).
  • At 100, Transcend for the Skyward Keystone.

Smithing

Craft eligible metal gear, smelt metal you supplied, or load eligible weapons into a Vaporiser. Opening someone else's furnace does not give you their XP. Furnace credit goes to the players who put their own ore in, by share.

  • Claim your Forge Bench at level 1. It also forges vault keys when Endless Rifts is installed (see Smithing tools below).
  • Smithing parts (Quench Tub, Bellows, Grindstone, Master's Rack) are awarded at 20, 40, 60 and 80 and fitted by using them on the bench.
  • With EndlessForged, a Wardrobe fitted to a Forge Bench opens your equipment page.
  • At 100, Transcend for the Trinketsmith's Hammer.

Alchemy

Craft potions and bottles at an Alchemist's Workbench to level. Craft the Alchemist's Handbook at the bench from level 1; right-click it to read recipes. It is also a free reward at level 20, and /alchemy opens it directly.

From Alchemy 10 you can brew custom potions:

  1. Bring empty bottles, small or large. Right-click ingredients on the bench to stage exact counts. Nothing is spent while staging, and left-clicking with a bottle takes the last ingredient back.
  2. When the mixture names an unlocked product, hold right-click with an empty bottle once per ingredient kind and release each pour at the gold line. Accuracy sets the grade: Crude, Fine or Masterwork.
  3. Completed pours use up the ingredients, and the last pour uses one bottle. A started brew survives logging out, restarts and chunk unloading.
LevelCustom brewUse
10Shoreline Fishing PotionTimed personal fishing buff with less junk

65Deepwater DraughtFaster mining and digging while your head is underwater
70Golden Fishing PotionBetter legendary-catch odds
75Bloodline DraughtImprove inherited traits of an owned animal

Hunter's Flare attracts nearby hostile enemies. Tier 1 reaches 24 blocks and 12 enemies at once, tier 2 reaches 32 blocks and 18 enemies, tier 3 reaches 40 blocks and 24 enemies. Tamed animals, bosses, Leviathans, spouses and companions are never pulled in. Each player can have one flare active, with four per world and sixteen per server. At 100, Transcend for the Master's Mark.

Exploration

Take generated loot from eligible natural chests outside claims, clear supported gates and Fate Zones, finish supported quests and discover worlds, places and enemies. XP follows loot you actually receive.

  • Chest rewards stop at 60 paid deliveries per day. Repeat clears have no hourly limit by default.
  • The first chest in each family and rank pays extra, as does the first clear of each rank.
  • Exploration levels do not restrict chest rewards. Walking into a new biome pays nothing.
  • Treasure Finder can add a personal Copper Bar, Iron Bar or Light Leather after you take generated Breach loot.
  • Chest glint marks the nearest eligible generated chest within 12 blocks with a short sparkle that only you see.
  • At 100, Transcend for the Gatecaller's Sigil.

Cooking

Claim the Cooking Station from the level 1 reward row and place it. Make a Cook's Spatula at a Workbench (Tools category) from one copper bar and three wood planks.

  1. Carry the spatula. Hold an ingredient and hold right-click on the station to add it. An ordinary pot needs at least six portions.
  2. Hold right-click with the spatula to fan the fire and release to cool it. Follow the heat gauge and the prompt, and left-click at the best point to lift the pot.
  3. Use the spatula again to collect the dish and its XP. A failed dish pays a quarter of a successful dish.
  4. Eat the dish for a timed effect shown above the hotbar. Eating another meal replaces it, and an ordinary death ends it.
  5. At Cooking 10 you claim the Recipe Book. Use a recipe scroll while carrying the book to learn it. Cooking 10 also adds failure explanations and 20 adds best-heat marks.

The Amalgamation unlocks at Cooking 95. It needs exactly one of each of the twelve condensed crops (Aubergine, Cabbage, Carrot, Chilli, Corn, Cotton, Onion, Potato, Pumpkin, Tomato, Turnip, Wheat) and at least 90% cook quality. A good serving grants up to 24 Strength, Sorcery, Life Force and Stamina for 60 real minutes and one death save that expires with the meal. It needs the Condensed Crops pack.

At Cooking 80 you can claim the Honeycomb Tart recipe scroll and gain +0.5% Rare Finds while cooking. At 100, Transcend for the Head Chef's Spatula.

Acrobatics

Survive a fall that would hurt you, or perform a supported Perfect Dodge (needs the Perfect Dodges plugin). XP scales with the fall damage you survived, counted against a 100 point health pool so the same drop pays the same at any health total. A fall must deal at least 5 damage to pay. Immune or death-save falls pay nothing.

  • Soft Landing reduces fall damage without reducing the XP of a fall you survive.
  • Clutch (level 100 pick) leaves you at 1 health after a lethal fall, once every 10 minutes. That fall pays no XP.
  • At 100, Transcend for the Featherfall Charm.

Husbandry

Tame, feed and breed supported Tamework animals and collect their produce. Claiming an already-tamed animal is not a fresh tame. Feeding, produce and breeding pay once per animal per short window (9, 1 and 1 minutes by default), so a larger herd pays more and one animal cannot be repeated.

  • Level 80 gives your animals Happiness Gain +25% (Warm Hands): care, feeding and petting raise happiness faster and mistakes cost less.
  • Use animal-care potions on animals you own.
  • At 100, Transcend for the Golden Halter.

Skill trees

Every ten levels opens a tier of choices.

1 to 310, 20, 301
4 to 740, 50, 60, 702
8 to 1080, 90, 1003

Each row leaves another option to choose between, and each profession has exactly one XP line that competes with practical benefits. Passive benefits and unlocks apply as soon as you reach their level, with no pick needed.

Extra Potion never duplicates revival incense. Lasting Meals and Hearty Meals are capped at 15% and 10% by default.

Tree resets

Resetting clears your selected perks for one profession and costs one reset credit for that profession. Everyone starts with zero credits, and credits for one profession cannot be spent on another. XP, levels, claimed rewards, capstones and first discoveries all stay. Use the Reset button on the profession page. Credits come from the server, for example as an event prize.

Reward claims

Stat picks and item rewards are separate. Opening a profession shows each earned item or crate key reward with its own Claim button. Claiming does not spend a stat pick.

ButtonMeaning
ClaimAn unpaid reward is ready
ClaimedThe server has a claim record. Items may still be waiting in the inbox
WaitingServer identity, loading or key delivery is pending
CheckDelivery needs an admin to investigate
LockedYou have not reached the level yet

Thresholds with no other reward pay filler crate keys from level 20: one key at 20, two at 30, and so on up to eight at 90. Level 80 pays a crate key on most trees (Farming, Cooking and Husbandry pay their own reward instead, and Exploration has no level 80 item). Servers can change the key or turn these rows off. If an item or tool is lost, many reward rows have a Replace button that quotes a price and asks for confirmation.

Transcend and capstones

At level 100 your number is drawn. Press Transcend and confirm to return to level 1, clear your tree choices and permanently lift the level cap on that profession. Then press Claim Capstone with a free inventory slot.

  • The number is your place in line to reach level 100 in that profession. The number shows in the capstone tooltip.
  • Capstones grant no titles. Your master title is earned at level 100.
  • The first player to reach the top of a profession is announced to the server.
  • Servers that share profession storage share capstone numbers, but each server makes its own copy, and a copy works only on the server that made it.
  • Capstones are tradable through the supported trade window (EndlessForged). A purchased copy goes dormant until its new holder attunes it on the profession's capstone card (or /professions attune twice), which charges a fee (25,000 by default, free on a server with no economy).
  • Your own lost capstone can be made again from its card for a price. Older copies of that number on the server stop working.

Daily limits reset at midnight UTC and belong to each server's copy. Some capstones need other mods: the Mining stake needs EndlessGuilds and ScuffedNPCs, the Sickle needs FarmingPlus, the Keystone needs EndlessGuilds, the Sigil needs Endless Rifts, and the Lure needs Angler's Almanac. Reaching 100 in Smithing, Alchemy and Cooking also earns the Supply Network crafting capstone: crafting can draw from loaded chests in your own claim (needs EndlessGuilds).

Rare finds, collections and titles

Rare finds

Mining, Farming and Fishing offer a Finds line from level 40. Taking every offered card gives 0.94% in Mining and 0.82% in Farming or Fishing, and most eligible actions that pay XP can roll. Placing blocks never rolls. Delivered finds appear in Collection. Level 90 finds (such as Diamond from Mining) are epic and need level 90 or Transcend. Rare finds can also include recipe scrolls for Cooking recipes that have no other source. Some rolls also pay a coin purse when the server has an economy.

Each first find pays bonus XP after normal XP. Default base multipliers are ore 20, wood, crop and fish 10, dish, brew and animal 5. Discoveries are per account and survive Transcend. Tilling, watering, feeding and animal storage create no discoveries.

Places found lists the worlds, regions, places, dungeons, gates, events and enemies you have discovered, with content tier and first-find date. Unfound known places show as ???. The bestiary lists credited kills.

XP boosts

The Boosts page shows active multipliers, remaining real time and contributor names. A boost is never personal: whoever buys it, every player on the server gets the extra XP, and the buyer's name goes on the HUD badge and in the announcement.

  • The default products are a 1.15x boost on all professions and a 1.15x boost on one chosen profession, each lasting 60 minutes.
  • A new purchase multiplies the current rate and adds time. Stacked boosts are held to a 2x cap, after which purchases only add time.
  • Each profession keeps its own rate and timer. A renewal within ten minutes of expiry multiplies the previous rate, and the gap in between pays normal XP.
  • Endless Leveling's own XP boost only affects Endless Leveling progression and is listed first on the page.
  • Servers decide whether boosts are sold in a store or bought in game with /professions boost.

Crafting, forges and other items

Smithing tools

  • Forge Bench: upgrade a held Forged weapon, convert currencies and forge vault keys.
  • Vaporiser: claim at Smithing 10. Load unwanted eligible Forged weapons to receive salvage cores and personal XP. Low-rarity weapons leave Tier F salvage cores. The Vaporiser Bag is awarded at Smithing 90.
  • Vault keys: with Endless Rifts installed, choose Vault keys on any Forge Bench, select a rank and press Forge one. The four-second scene needs a Smithing level and materials:
RankSigil ShardsBarsSmithing level
E24 Copper5
D36 Iron15
C48 Thorium25
B610 Cobalt40
A812 Adamantite60
S1015 Mithril80

Each key also pays Smithing XP. The forging scene takes four seconds.

Rejuvinator

Mining and Farming offer the Rejuvinator station at level 90, a station that supplies eligible workers. Both trees share one free claim per player per server, and each further claim costs 100,000 from your wallet. Station capacities and worker travel belong to ScuffedNPCs.

Leviathan

A Leviathan defeat drops 2 to 4 Leviathan Scales and 1 to 2 Leviathan Flesh in total.

  • Tidewalker's Charm: a Forged trinket made at Smithing 80 from 35 Tier B cores, 8 Leviathan Scales and 8 gold bars.
  • Tidefed meals: one Leviathan Flesh in a regular Good meal makes its positive food bonuses 50% stronger while you touch water.
  • Deepwater Draught also uses flesh as an ingredient.

Relics and spouse revival

Restored Excavation relics can be displayed and traded. Soulbound Incense ends your NPC spouse's death recovery timer (needs EndlessMarriage with recorded spouse revival). Profession XP is never shared with a spouse.

Building shop unlocks

At certain Building levels you earn a permission that a server's shop can use to unlock listings. The defaults are Builder's Woodwork (10), Builder's Corner (20), Lost Civilization (30), Village Fittings (50) and Temple Masonry (70). Each line in the tree tells you where to shop. Transcending Building keeps every set.

Leaderboard

/professions leaderboard opens a ranking page by profession and total. It reads a cached snapshot, so a rank can lag by up to ten minutes by default.
